Structured Transition Support
At Brightsky Youth Services, we provide specialist transition support for Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) as they move into adulthood, including young people with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF).
We understand that turning 18 can bring significant change and uncertainty. Young people may still be waiting for decisions on asylum claims or appeals while facing changes to accommodation, financial support and other services. Our aim is to provide stability, continuity and practical support during this important stage of their journey.

Where young people remain in placement post‑18 due to immigration status, support is clearly planned, reviewed and safeguarded, with realistic move‑on planning.
Support Through the Transition
Preparation for adulthood begins before a young person turns 18 and continues after 18, forming part of an agreed placement and transition plan. Our support can include preparation for independent living, attending Home Office and legal appointments, liaison with legal representatives and local authorities, access to ESOL, education, training and volunteering opportunities, practical life skills and emotional support during periods of uncertainty.
For young people with NRPF or unresolved immigration status, we work closely with the relevant local authority and professional network to ensure that support is carefully planned, regularly reviewed, and focused on safeguarding, stability, and realistic move-on options.
Our goal is to help UASC navigate the transition to adulthood with greater confidence, stability and hope for the future.
Specialist Support for NRPF & Immigration Uncertainty
Young people with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) face additional complexity when transitioning into adulthood. Restricted access to welfare benefits, housing support and financial assistance can significantly increase vulnerability. Brightsky provides specialist, structured support to ensure stability, safeguarding and informed decision-making during periods of immigration uncertainty.
Support to attend Home Office appointments, maintain communication with legal representatives and understand ongoing asylum or appeal processes.
Practical guidance on budgeting and managing limited resources, documentation requirements and lawful access to available support options.
Where appropriate, young people may remain in placement post-18 to reduce disruption and maintain stability during immigration processes.
