Education and Employment

Brightsky Youth Services

Education, Training & Employment

At Brightsky Youth Services, we believe every young person should have the opportunity to learn, develop new skills and build a positive future. Whether you want to go to college, improve your English, start an apprenticeship, find a job or explore your options, we will support you along the way.

We understand that education may have been difficult or interrupted in the past. Our support is personalised, encouraging and focused on helping you move forward at a pace that works for you.

We support access to:

Local colleges and training providers

Alternative education where appropriate

PEP meetings and educational reviews

We recognise disrupted educational histories and work at a pace that supports re‑engagement.

Individualised Education & Career Planning

Each young person’s educational and employment journey is incorporated into their individual support plan. We recognise that pathways are rarely linear, particularly for young people with disrupted educational histories, and therefore adopt a personalised, realistic and strengths-based approach.

Support planning includes identifying aspirations, addressing barriers to engagement and setting achievable short- and long-term goals. Where appropriate, we work collaboratively with Virtual Schools, colleges, training providers, careers advisers and placing authorities to ensure coordinated support and consistent expectations.

Progress is reviewed regularly through structured keywork sessions and professional meetings, ensuring that development is measurable, sustainable and aligned with each young person’s wider independence plan.

Employability and Work Readiness

At Brightsky Youth Services, we believe every young person should have the opportunity to learn, develop new skills and build a positive future. Whether you want to go to college, improve your English, start an apprenticeship, find a job or explore your options, we will support you along the way.

We understand that education may have been difficult or interrupted in the past. Our support is personalised, encouraging and focused on helping you move forward at a pace that works for you.

Education and ESOL Support

We support young people to access local colleges, training providers, vocational courses and alternative education opportunities. For Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) and other young people who are developing their English language skills, we provide support to access ESOL classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages). Staff can help with college applications, enrolment, attendance and communication with education providers, helping young people build confidence in English and participate more fully in education, employment and community life.

Your Support Worker will help you explore your strengths, interests and ambitions and turn them into achievable goals. Together, you can explore college courses, ESOL classes, training, apprenticeships, volunteering and employment opportunities.

We help young people build the confidence and practical skills needed for employment, including CV writing, job searching, application writing, interview preparation, apprenticeships, volunteering opportunities, and understanding workplace expectations.

Success looks different for everyone. Whether it is attending your first ESOL class, returning to education, completing a course, starting an apprenticeship or securing a job, we recognise and celebrate every step forward. Our aim is to help young people develop the language skills, qualifications, experience, confidence and ambition they need to build an independent and positive future.

Supporting Sustainable Outcomes

Our focus is not simply on access to education or employment, but on sustained engagement and long-term progression. Education and employability are central components of successful transition into adulthood and independent living.
